thinly veiled country rock crap... Sun, January 14, 2007 - 5:21 PM
I can't hit my local dive bar without hearing the overrated, insipid Nickelback EVERY GODDAMNED NIGHT!! When I first heard "Rock Star", I thought it was a country song; the singer's drawl sure sounded straight outta "Deliverence" to me. I asked another patron incredulously, "Who does this?". "Nickelback" they replied. I was shocked. THIS is a categorized grunge band? Face it, Nick, you're a glorified country band with rock-wannabe tendencies.
BTW, their fast beat "hit" that also plays in every Neaderthal oasis, the song that has in the chorus, "...get in, get in, look at the trouble were in..."? OK, here's where this song REALLY blows, during each verse, the bass line is ONE NOTE repeated in a basic rhythm, that's right, ONE NOTE! This band being on a record label is a slap in the face to anybody who's ever played a kazoo or went window shopping at guitar shops.
